Turia Pitt was hospitalized last Friday after stepping on a sewing needle while visiting family on the NSW coast.
The inspirational burn survivor and motivational speaker recalled letting out “a stream of swear words” after a sharp pain shot through her foot.
“I didn’t know what happened, but somehow I found the courage to look at my foot,” she explained.

“I scanned the hotel floor and spotted a thin silver needle sticking out of the carpet, like a soldier about to go into battle.”
“‘You absolute asshole,’ I said to the eye of the sewing needle, casting a sinister gaze over his dismembered body. All but a third remained.
Turia said as she pulled a third of the needle out, she didn’t know a section was still inside her foot until she felt unbearable pain the next day.

“I know the pain. I have suffered many times over the past decade. For me, it’s manageable, because I’m recovering. I’m better,” she said.
It comes after Turia shared her top tips for staying motivated.
“I like to think of my energy and focus as a torch, and a torch only shines in one direction. So when I was scared, overwhelmed and stressed, where was that torch shining on me? , she told Daily Mail Australia.
“I had to change direction. How? I asked myself different questions. I asked myself what I could do to give back to my community. I wondered what I could be grateful for. I wondered what I could do usefully, Turia continued.
“So when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, my advice is to shift your focus. Ask yourself, ‘How can I be of service? How can I do the best job I can do right now? And from what can I be grateful right now?”
