Ludhiana | Amarjit Singh re-elected president of the Sewing Machine Industries Association

Owner of Swan Mechanical Works, Amarjit Singh got 126 votes and beat his opponent Harinderjit Singh, who got 30 votes, by 96 votes to win the Ludhiana Sewing Machine Industries Association presidential election.

Amarjit Singh (Swan) has been elected president of the District Sewing Machine Industries Association for the third consecutive term. The elections were held on Saturday at a hotel on the road to Ferozepur

Owner of Swan Mechanical Works, Singh got 126 votes and beat his opponent Harinderjit Singh, who got 30 votes, by 96 votes.

Amarjit said, “The association has around 250 members and elections for the position of president are held every two years. Twenty appointed officers, including secretary general, treasurer, etc. are appointed by the President.

He said there are a lot of problems regarding the sector, including the current energy crisis, black market in raw materials, labor shortage, etc. “We will work as a team and take up the issues with the government. In addition, coordinated efforts will also be made to encourage modernization, technological upgrading, etc. “said Amarjit.

    30 injured, 5 critical as bus overturns on Solapur-Gangapur road

    At least 30 passengers were injured on Sunday when the public transport bus overturned on the Solapur-Gangapur road near the village of Maindargi, a state transport department official said. At least five passengers were seriously injured in the crash, officials said. The bus was en route from Solapur to Gangapur when the incident happened near Maindargi village around 10.30am. The public transport bus was on its way to Gangapur.
