Pacific West Quilt Show

The first international juried and judged quilt show in the Pacific Northwest, in 1994, was a huge gamble for the fledgling organization that came to be called the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters. The show’s surprising success was the foundation for the subsequent series of biennial Quiltfest shows produced in Seattle by APNQ. Each show brought in more quilts, more attendees and more members of the organization, as the number of U.S. states and Canadian provinces included in APNQ’s region continued to increase over the years.

With the addition in 2009 of eight more states to the covered region, APNQ has become APWQ--the Association of Pacific West Quilters. The first APWQ quilt show with its new name - Pacific West Quilt Show - was presented at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in August 2011.  Over 6,000 people attended the show and admired the over 500 quilts on display. The event was a tremendous success, thanks to the hundreds of entrants, special exhibit quiltmakers, volunteers, and enthusiastic attendees, as well as the vendors, lecturers, and judges who participated.
