APWQ Members Special Exhibits

A Special Invitation to Our Members 

We've seen the imaginative and beautiful quilts that you, the quilters of the region, are making! To encourage, honor and recognize the talents of all our members, we are presenting three Special Exhibits for the 2011 Pacific West Quilt Show. These exhibits will showcase a selection of APWQ members' quilts and will be on display in the Ballroom of the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center. Over 10,000 quilt enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view these exclusive exhibits. All APWQ members in good standing are eligible to submit their quilts for jurying into the APWQ Members' Special Exhibits.
 
The number of works included in the special exhibits will depend on the number of entries submitted and space available. Quilts will be juried for general appearance and overall design. These quilts will not be judged, though a Viewer's Choice ribbon will be awarded for each of the three Special Exhibits.
 
APWQ Membership is open to all who support quiltmaking and the quilting arts. While entry submission for the Juried & Judged Contest is limited to permanent residents of Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Northwest Territories, Oregon, Saskatchewan, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Yukon, all other benefits of membership are available to any who wish to join.

Exhibit Rules and Information 

All APWQ members in good standing are eligible to submit their quilts for jurying into the APWQ Members Special Exhibits.

• Contact person on entry form must be a member of APWQ.
• Limit of two quilt entries per contact person, per special exhibit.
• The number of works included in the Special Exhibits will be determined by the number of entries submitted and the available space.
• Quilts will be juried for general appearance and overall design.
• Each selected entrant will receive a special participation ribbon. 
• One Viewer’s Choice ribbon will be awarded for each of the three Special Exhibits. Quilts will not be judged.
• Quilts must have been completed in the past five years and be in excellent condition. Quilts exhibited in previous APNQ shows are not eligible.
• All entries must be clean, free of odor, in excellent condition and constructed of fabric.
• Entries must have a 4" sleeve casing for hanging and a cloth label sewn on the back bottom left corner with the title of the quilt, maker’s name, address and phone number. Miniatures should have a sleeve or loops appropriate to their size.
• Entries are not to exceed 110” on any one side. Entries may be multiple pieces as long as the combined width of all pieces displayed does not exceed 110”.
• Entries with rigid frames, glass, special mounting or hanging devices, will not be allowed. Quilts must be able to be folded. Please, no fragile embellishments.
• If selected for inclusion in a Special Exhibit, the maker(s) gives permission for photography or filming and for APWQ to use the quilt image in event-related publications, publicity and promotion in print or electronic form.
• Quilts will remain in a secure location 24 hours a day and will be insured by APWQ from time of arrival until return shipping to the maker. Every effort will be made to take care of entries. However, quilts should be insured through your individual insurance company.
• ENTRY FORM and QUILT IMAGE MUST BE RECEIVED BY MAY 6, 2011.
  
• Exhibit participants will be notified by email by June 21, 2011 and a list of participants will be published on the APWQ website at www.apwq.org
• To receive acceptance notification by mail, please include a SASE with your entry form.
• Shipping instructions will be sent with notification of exhibit acceptance.
